THE BIG SCREEN HACK CANNES IS OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!
So I dunno if you read my note last week? (right here) Low down is: we’re running a 48 hour AI-meets-filmmaker short film competition, the weekend before Cannes Film Festival. Shortlisted films will then be shown in Cannes.
We’re designing the hackathon to give more traditionally minded filmmakers the chance to experiment with AI creator tools, and to give AI creators the opportunity to work with the craft of filmmaking.
The future is here and this is how we experiment. That way we can decide what works for us.
The initiative is kindly supported by IMGN, Misfit and more partners to be announced next week.

One hell of a nostalgic ride. How the Red Hot Chili Peppers became a thing.
The Chilis’s were basically all I listened to as a younger teen (as well as Rage Against The Machine and Blink-182) (and Greenday). So this Netflix doc was a wonderful insight into what made them into the band they became. The talent, the energy, the love, the serendipity, the addictions, the pain, the hope, the music. The music.
The doc dives into the soul of the band and focuses particularly on founding member Hillel Slovak. His soul meant much to the groove they eventually found. And the only reason the band exists is because Hillel gave Flea and Anthony a lift when they were bumming a ride!
Featuring interviews and footage with Flea, Anthony and other witnesses to the chaotic 80s, the doc is the lively story behind how on earth the band made it through the grit. Well worth every minute.
